Campground Panorama

The campground we are staying at has beautiful views. We only get a glimpse when the smoke clears. It sits on a hill, with Glacier National Park and St. Mary Lake to the West and Lower St. Mary Lake to the east.

Yellowstone -> Glacier

Today we drove north, from Yellowstone to Glacier. Overall, not the greatest arrival at our campground. We are staying at a beautiful spot just outside the northeast entrance to the park, but because of the fires we had almost no view on the drive here or when we arrived. Upon arriving we learned that they actually evacuated and closed the west side of the park. The add insult to injury we had a rather bumpy drive and when we opened the fridge the eggs spilled out and broke.

Yellowstone’s Edge Cookout

Last night at our campground there was a pot-luck cookout, where the campground owners smoked a large number of ribs and the folks in the campground each brought a dish to share. Many of the others in the campground spend the whole summer there. Most seem to be retired folks. We were the youngest and the only ones with kids, but it was nice to get out and socialize – and eat some ribs.

Kanab (Zion) -> Tropic (Bryce)

Today we made the short journey from Kanab, UT to Tropic, UT, near Bryce Canyon. It was only a 90 minute drive, which was nice.

I had an accident during setup and I got slammed in the face by the sway bar handle. It hurt and I was down for a while.

Once I was feeling better we headed into the park to do some planning. Then we had dinner, and a short swim. It is cooling off nicely, too nicely to swim too long. There is a hot tub here and the kids enjoyed that.
