It was a big day for the Liesland lawn today – Andrew mowed the grass for the first time! We have a new lawnmower that is just right for him.

Tonight we got out for our final hike of the year with the Prairie Grass Guild. We wrapped up our third year of hiking. We meet on the second Friday of each month and go for a hike, usually at Jester Park.
There is a fairly large creek behind our house that the kids love to play in. I can’t wait to get some kayaks that we can play around with, but in the meantime we are using a tube that is intended to be used for sledding. I tied a rope to it to prevent it from floating away and the kids had a blast today cooling off and enjoying the water.
Mari has been wanting short hair for a while, but we all agreed to wait until after her First Communion. Two days later, she went for it.
Today we celebrated May Faire with the Bean Sprout school. It was a busy day to end a busy weekend, but it is always a great time. This was our first time hosting it at the new house and it was lovely in the new backyard.
Yesterday we attended our first Tulip Time in Pella, IA. Mar-Mar and Be-Bob met us there en route to Des Moines for Mari’s First Communion. We also met our friend Anne, who lives in Pella. The kids loved it and can’t wait to go back next year.
Tonight we went for a short bike ride to a local playground. The kids loved the tire swing!
Lucia loves to be outside! The weather has been nice and she wants to go out side all of the time. She likes to go for walks out front or go in the back and swing or play in the sandbox.
She can open our back screen door by herself and she frequently does so and heads for the playset.
Today we got out for a walk through the woods behind our house. Andrew had a fun place he had found that he wanted to share with us. The kids had a fun time playing in the sand and throwing rocks in the creek.
