Dinner at Jerry & Sheila’s

This evening we headed back to Jerry and Sheila’s for dinner. We hung out, played games, did laundry, ate dinner, and Jerry hooked me up with some family photos and videos.

7 Days of Skyline, Day 2

This evening we had Skyline tacos. I browned a pound of ground beef, added a can of Skyline, and then boiled off the liquid. For an added bonus, we put the tacos in nacho cheese shells. We had the usual fixings, and I also added onions and mustard to mine. Some black olives would have been good, too.

The Castle Tour Continues

Yesterday we went to the Mystery Castle; today we headed north to Montezuma Castle. We tried to stop here last week on our way to Sedona, but it was closed because of the government shutdown. We spent about 30 minutes each at Montezuma Castle and Montezuma Well. The castle area features some neat cliff-dwellings. The well area features a spring that comes up in a limestone crater of sorts. Over 1.5 million gallons of water per day come up through the desert floor. There were also cliff-dwellings, cave-dwellings, and a pit house around the well. I am glad we had to make a special trip and had more time. Had we gone last week we would not have taken the time to go to Montezuma Well.

7 Days of Skyline, Day 1

This kids and I usually have Skyline for dinner when Susan is gone. Since she is gone for the whole next week we decided to eat Skyline every night.

Saturday in Phoenix

After dropping Susan off at the airport the kids and I spent some time exploring Phoenix.

We visited the Mystery Castle.

Susan Flies to the Dominican Republic

We dropped Susan off at the airport today around lunchtime. She is heading to the Dominican Republic for a week with her high school friends. It was a harder goodbye than I thought  it would be. I was certainly not looking forward to her leaving, but I think I have taken for granted the fact that we have spent nearly every moment of the past 6 months together.

Tom’s Thumb Hike

We did the Tom’s Thumb hike today after work. It was just over two miles up, then back down. It was a tough walk up, but Rose hiked the whole way down, which was awesome. We were treated to about 30 minutes of beautiful sunset on the drive home.
