Basketball Wrap-Up

Andrew’s basketball season wrapped up Monday night, with his team winning the league championship. Andrew enjoyed the season, but is still contemplating his future on the court.

Andrew’s most talked about play after his last game was his 3-point shot that hit the rim twice, but didn’t find its way in. Next time.

Neighborhood Sports

This winter we are back at it with Neighborhood Sports. We are at a nearby gym with three bags full of fun equipment. It seems like lately we have been running summer and winter, with our kids playing organized sports in the fall and spring.

Basketball!

Our new house has a nice, big driveway, almost perfect for a basketball hoop. Last week we were on a walk and we noticed that one of our neighbors, about 4 blocks away, had a hoop that was used so infrequently that it was being grown over by a nearby tree. I told Susan that I wish we could just ask them if we could have it.

Well, they had a yard sale this weekend and Susan bought it for $5! All I had to do was haul it down the street and we were ready to play!

Rick helped me get it up the driveway and level it with a 2×4 and we were ready to play!

Tennis

One thing that we like about our new house is that it is close to a really big sports field, with plenty of room for plenty of activities. There are also some tennis and basketball courts that the kids enjoy. Tonight we got the entire family out for some tennis and had a good time.

Neighborhood Sports

After a few years in traditional sports leagues, we (the Reagens and the Lieslands) decided to start our own league – Neighborhood Sports. It is a different model where kids of all ages meet just one night a week for some practice and play. I am really excited about the change it will bring to our spring and fall. I think this will be more fun for the kids and simplify our lives a lot. It will also leave weekends more open for us, so we can spend more time doing other things.

The first spring season doesn’t start until April, so we have a few months to get things in order. Then the fun begins!
